Faculty Fellows will be back in our first-year residence halls this fall, ready to get to know students through informal interactions and programming. Dinners, games, crafts, field trips, and above all, regular, low-key events with fun snacks and casual conversation are some examples of what to expect from these small, student-focused teams this fall.

The purposes of the Faculty Fellows program are: to increase faculty-student engagement by promoting informal, regular interactions between Wake Forest students and faculty; to integrate the life of the mind into students’ social experiences; and to enhance a sense of community. The program is intended to foster our strategic plan by building exceptional faculty-student engagement and to help educate the whole person through enriching students’ intellectual, cultural, and social lives.

What if your student isn’t sure how to approach faculty members? Students: start with your Faculty Fellows. They’re always up for answering any questions, teaching you a thing or two while learning from you, and helping you have a little fun as you make your way in your new home. Their deep experiences working with students means they are experts in more than their discipline–they know, too, how it feels to find your people and your place, even when it doesn’t feel so easy, and they are here to help our newest students navigate transitioning to college. Not only are these faculty great listeners, but they’re living, breathing examples of our extraordinary Wake Forest level of student-faculty engagement.

More information, including details about each Faculty Fellow team, is here. Students should start getting to know their team today, then look out for your hall’s Fellows during move-in days, and make a point to attend some Faculty Fellows events this fall semester.
