The following message was sent to continuing students (Classes of ’21-’24) from the Office of the University Registrar

——————————-

Dear Students,

We hope you are enjoying a well-deserved break! We are writing to provide important information regarding registration for Fall 2021.

Important Dates

  • Ongoing: Access Course Schedule and Plan Ahead in Registration Portal
  • Today: Time Tickets are available to view in Prepare for Registration
  • June 1-4: Self-Service Registration
  • June 7: Requests to Overload/Exceed 17 hours can be submitted to OAA for review
  • July 2: Access to Self-Service Registration closes
  • August 6: Access to Self-Service Registration re-opens for Add/Drop

Plan Ahead

By now, you should have met with your adviser(s) for advising, discussed courses for Fall 2021, and obtained your PIN. If you have not been advised, please make sure to connect with your adviser. You must be advised by your adviser to obtain your registration PIN. Without your PIN, you will be unable to register for Fall 2021 courses. The Office of the University Registrar cannot provide you with your PIN and the Office of Academic Advising will not release your PIN without the permission of your adviser.

Use the Plan Ahead tool in the Registration Portal to craft potential schedules and scenarios with different courses. When your registration time ticket opens, you can load courses directly from your desired plan. More detailed instructions on creating plans can be found here.

Time Tickets

Similar to registration for Spring 2021, registration time tickets are assigned based on earned hours.

You will register at your assigned date and time based on your earned hours through the first part-of-term of Spring 2021:

    • June 1: students who have earned 87+ hours
    • June 2: students who have earned 55-86 hours
    • June 3: students who have earned 25-54 hours
    • June 4: students who have earned up to 24 hours

Please note that the hours you have earned for full term and second part-of-term courses during Spring 2021 semester are not included in the earned hours calculation for time tickets. Therefore, the earned hours reflected on your transcript and DegreeWorks after May 20 when final grades are processed are not factored into the assignment of time tickets.

You can view your registration time ticket in the Registration Portal > Prepare for Registration > Select Fall 2021. Check your student status and holds to ensure that they display checkmarks. If you have any holds, make sure to resolve them with the office that placed your hold prior to registration. Please note that your time ticket will display an exclamation mark until it is your time to register.

When you view your time ticket, you will notice that you have two time tickets. Your first time ticket will open during the June 1-4 self-service registration period and will remain open until 5pm on July 2. You will be permitted to register for up to 17 total hours when your time ticket opens. You can access registration at or any time after your start time that is most convenient and make any adjustments to your schedule until 5pm on July 2. Your second time ticket will begin at 9am on August 6, which is when access to registration will re-open to allow for add/drop. *All times listed are EDT.

Office of the University Registrar staff will be available via Google Chat between 9am-5pm on June 1-4. Google Chat is the most efficient way to contact us for assistance during self-service registration.

Overload/Exceed 17 Hours Requests

Beginning June 7, you may seek permission to exceed 17 hours by following the steps outlined by the Office of Academic Advising.

Waitlists

If a course has closed and a seat on the waitlist is available, you will be able to add yourself to the waitlist (see “Join a Waitlist”). If a seat in the course becomes available, you will receive a waitlist notification in your WFU email account. Please make sure you are checking your WFU email regularly during the self-service registration period and through July 2, as you will have 48 hours from the time of notification to register for that open seat. If you fail to act within the 48-hour window, that open seat will go to the next student on the waitlist.

If You Are Planning to Study Abroad

Per guidance you have already received from Global Programs and Studies, you are advised to register for courses during self-service registration and continue your applications and plans for study abroad. As programs are confirmed, you will be dropped from any Reynolda Campus (on-campus) courses and coded/registered for your study abroad program appropriately. Please direct any study abroad questions to studyabroad@wfu.edu.

Next Steps

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the University Registrar (336.758.5207; registrar@wfu.edu).

We hope you have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Office of the University Registrar
