E-newsletter from the Office of Family Engagement

Students, faculty, and staff celebrated Wake Forest University’s 190th birthday with cake on Hearn Plaza earlier this month.

Every February, Wake Forest celebrates our ‘birthday’ — our founding in February 1834 — by coming together at Founders Day in Wait Chapel to reflect on our traditions, our history and our people, and to affirm our Pro Humanitate motto.

Families are invited to tune in to Founders Day on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. (or watch a recording after the fact). Our program will feature the annual senior oration, reflections from Vice President for Campus Life Shea Kidd Brown, remarks from President Susan R. Wente, music, the awarding of the Medallion of Merit — the highest honor bestowed by Wake Forest for service to the University — to retired women’s golf coach Dianne Dailey and Professor Emerita of English Claudia Kairoff, and more.

Speaking of more... if you have not checked our our new Our Motto Means More website, please do. Learn what Pro Humanitate (for humanity) means to Wake Foresters past and present, see how our motto inspires us to be catalysts for good, or share your own Pro Humanitate story.

Finally, the University is engaged in a comprehensive belonging and inclusion climate survey, and we still need students to respond to get to our 35% participation goal. Please ask your students if they have taken the climate survey — and if they have not, ask them to take the survey by Thursday, Feb. 15. Thank you!

Go Deacs!

For new families (of Early Decision students admitted to the Class of 2028)

Welcome, P’28s (families of newly-admitted students in the Class of 2028)! Behind the scenes, we are starting to update our New Students website for the Class of 2028. It should go live around May 1st. Please note that all the information on that website right now pertains to the Class of 2027, not your incoming students, so do not go by those dates, or complete any forms there. We will send all P’28 families an email around May 1st once the new site is ready.

We are including you in this e-newsletter so that you can begin to see the kinds of communications that Wake Forest families receive. Please keep in mind that the details and deadlines in other sections of this e-newsletter only apply to currently-enrolled students (Classes of 2024-2027), not your incoming Deacs.
