Save the date: Family Weekend will be held Sept. 26-28; for alumni families, Homecoming will be Oct. 24-26
Belated Happy Valentine's Day to our Deac families! You are the best collegiate parents and families in the country and we appreciate you!
The date you have all been waiting for has been set: Family Weekend will be held September 26-28. The Office of Student Engagement is the department on campus that plans and facilitates all Family Weekend activities; later in the summer, they will have many more details about the weekend, so stay tuned.
We hope you will join us (virtually) for Founders Day on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. via livestream:
“Each year the University marks its founding in February 1834 by coming together to celebrate and reflect on our traditions, our history and our people. Founders Day is also a moment to affirm the University’s motto — Pro Humanitate.”
Founders Day will feature remarks from President Susan R. Wente and Dean of the Law School Andy Klein, musical selections from the University Chamber Choir, the reading of this year’s winning Senior Oration by Zac Anderson (‘25), and the presentation of the Medallion of Merit, the University's highest honor. If you cannot watch live, you can view a recording after the event.
Wishing you and yours all the best for the spring. Go Deacs!
Betsy Chapman, Ph.D. (’92, MA ’94) Executive Director of Family Communications

Message from the Parents’ Council chairs Karin and Charles Goldstuck (P ’23, P ’25)
|
With the spring semester fully underway, Karin and I continue to send good wishes to you and your students. Hopefully, this month will bring some warmer weather, and the spring flowers will start to peek out on campus. With many exciting events happening over the next upcoming months, such as David Brooks Face-to-Face speaker forum and Wake N’ Shake, our students should have their hands full of engaging opportunities while also concentrating on their studies. On the athletics front, the men’s and women’s basketball seasons are in full swing as other teams launch their spring schedules. We wish them all much success and encourage our students to cheer on their classmates by attending as many sporting events as they can. We invite you to read the timely information contained in this newsletter. Being aware of all the offerings on campus as well as important deadlines puts us in a good position to support our Wake Foresters.

For New Families of students in the Class of 2029
|
- Welcome, P’29s (families of newly-admitted students in the Class of 2029)! This spring, we will be updating our New Students website for the Class of 2029. It should go live around May 1st. Please note that all the information on that website right now pertains to the Class of 2028, not your incoming students, so do not go by those dates, or complete any forms there. We will send all P’29 families an email around May 1st once the new site is ready.
- We are including you in this e-newsletter so that you can begin to see the kinds of communications that Wake Forest families receive. Any information in this Incoming Families section of the e-newsletter pertains to P ’29 families. But keep in mind that the details and deadlines in other sections of this e-newsletter only apply to currently-enrolled students (Classes of 2025-2028), not your incoming Deacs.
- A clarification about social media and online groups: new families’ best source for official information is from Wake Forest websites or administrative offices (do not rely on a group text, unofficial Facebook message board, or what your student heard from someone, as that information can be incorrect and policies can change from year to year).
- Administrators do not review, moderate, correct, or manage information in private Facebook groups set up by individual parents/families; that information is not officially sanctioned by the University. Not that our official Wake Forest parent and family Facebook page is not a group you need to be admitted to; it is an informational page anyone can access.
If you can’t find an answer on our website or via campus offices, you can email parents@wfu.edu for help. You can also follow our official WFU social media accounts.

Academics
|
From The Center for Learning, Access, and Student Success:
- Comprehensive Syllabus — it’s never too late! The WFU Comprehensive Syllabus has helped many students greatly improve their time management skills. Have your students reach out to CLASS and book an academic coaching session. This tool helps students get a handle on all their assignments and assessments and build a plan for when to begin preparing!
From Undergraduate Summer Session:
- There is one month until Summer Session registration opens on March 17! Our Summer Session website has all the information you need to consider how summer classes might benefit your student. Contact us with any questions.

News
|
From Student Financial Services:
- The 1098-T tax form is now available for the 2024 tax year. Students can access the form through the Student Financials hub on Workday. If the student did not consent to receive an electronic copy then the form was mailed in late January to their primary address listed on their Workday account. For more information, please visit the Tax Information page on the Student Financial Services website.
- Have your students Sign up for Direct Deposit! Wake Forest encourages students to utilize direct deposit as doing so provides students with a convenient and secure way to access their funds faster.
From Financial Aid:
- As part of their planning for their next academic year, students should carefully consider their housing and meal plan selections, especially if a portion of their college costs are provided by Wake Forest Need-Based Scholarship funds. The financial aid committee uses standard estimated costs for on-campus students, including the average of on-campus housing charges (which is slightly higher than the cost of the standard double-occupancy room) and the Forestry meal plan (which provides twenty-one all-you-care-to-eat meals per week). Students who choose the more expensive of these options should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for the additional costs.
